We Have Big “Buts” and We Cannot Lie
A new variation on a classic, right? The issue is, however, that in the church we have big buts that are keeping us from fulfilling our potential of mission, outreach, evangelism, and the Great Commission.
“We’d love to help, but…..”, “We’ve tried that before, but…..”, “We could do that, but……” A big problem, other than the obvious one, is that we deceive ourselves when we say those things. It’s easier to have an excuse than to try and possibly “fail”.
We really don’t deceive our neighbors – they don’t really expect all that much from us. We deceive ourselves when we call ourselves “missional” and then we find excuses.
We do have big buts, but with a little missional exercise, we could work it off in no time, and make ourselves, and our neighbors, healthier in the Spirit.
